Carlos “Chale” Sandoval

Artist

Born in 1952, artist, Carlos Sandoval, graduated from Martin High School in 1971 in Laredo, Texas.  He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where he studied studio art and sculpture.  He earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in 1976.

He was part of the faculty at the Vidal M Trevino School of Communication and Fine Arts in the Laredo Independent School District.

Sandoval works with a variety of media, including acrylics, pencils, pastels, watercolor and recycled materials in his drawings and paintings and clay, and auto body filler in his sculptures.  His artwork has been described as impressionist abstract.

He has donated several paintings to non-profit organizations including the Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason Charity Program and LENSA (Laredoans en San Antonio). His paintings have benefited the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and scholarships for the graduates of Martin High School in Laredo, Texas. 

Sandoval is retired and living in San Antonio, Texas.
